Confirmed Case Escape Commotion in Boeun-gun... Village Residents Also Drank Coffee They Provided
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] A woman in her 20s who was diagnosed with COVID-19 in Daegu and admitted to a residential treatment center in Boeun-gun, Chungbuk, caused anxiety in the village after leaving the facility without permission and coming into contact with local residents.
According to Boeun-gun and quarantine authorities, at around 2:20 p.m. on the 26th, a 25-year-old woman receiving treatment after testing positive for COVID-19 at the Military Manpower Administration Social Service Training Center in Seowon-ri, Jangan-myeon, Boeun-gun, left the facility. The woman walked to a nearby pension in the village and even spoke with the owner. The owner thought she was an outsider who came to make a reservation and reportedly served her coffee.
However, about 20 minutes later, officials from the residential treatment facility operation support team and medical staff visited the pension, took the woman back to the facility, and only then realized she was a confirmed COVID-19 patient. It was reported that the wife of the pension owner’s couple drank the coffee the woman had left unfinished. The owner immediately informed the county office and the village chief, and the county health center placed the owner’s wife, who was confirmed to have had close contact with the female patient, under self-quarantine and disinfected the pension area.
