Police Investigate Singer Wheesung for Alleged Habitual Propofol Use
[Asia Economy Reporters Lee Gwan-ju and Lee Jung-yoon] It has been confirmed that the police are investigating singer Hweseong (38, real name Choi Hweseong) on suspicion of habitual propofol use.
According to the police on the 26th, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency is investigating after securing statements that Hweseong administered a large amount of propofol, a hypnotic drug classified as a psychotropic substance. It is reported that the police detected this circumstance while investigating a separate drug case.
A police official explained, "It is true that we are investigating (Hweseong), but he has not yet been summoned for questioning," adding, "No decision has been made to request an arrest warrant."
Hweseong was investigated by the prosecution in 2013 on charges of propofol use, but was cleared the same year as it was recognized that the use was for treatment purposes.
