Athlete Memorabilia Charity Auction, Fans' Donations, Broadcast Revenue, and Club's Own Fundraising Combined
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] KB Kookmin Bank's women's professional basketball team, KB Stars, announced on the 26th that they donated 10 million won to Cheongju City, their home region, to help overcome COVID-19.
The donation was collected from the proceeds of a charity auction of players' cherished items held during an online fan meeting, contributions from fans, and the club's own funds.
The KB Stars players stated, "We wanted to offer comfort to those struggling due to COVID-19, so the players and fans united their hearts," adding, "We express our deepest gratitude to the fans who actively participated in this meaningful event."
Previously, despite games being held without spectators and the league being suspended due to the spread of COVID-19, KB Stars conducted official biased broadcasts and an online fan meeting called the 'KB Stars Basketball Concert' to maintain active communication with fans.
