Sangju-si, Gyeongbuk Temporarily Suspends Illegal Parking Enforcement to Revitalize Local Economy
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Sangju City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 26th that it will temporarily suspend the crackdown on illegal parking and stopping along major downtown roads such as shopping districts and traditional markets.
This is to support small business owners and self-employed individuals who are struggling due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The city decided not to operate 12 fixed closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed for parking enforcement and 2 mobile CCTV vehicles from next month 5th until the end of social distancing measures, aiming to revive the depressed traditional market commercial area and improve residents' convenience.
The '4 major illegal parking prohibition zones'?within 5 meters of fire hydrants, within 10 meters of bus stops, within 5 meters of intersection corners, and crosswalks, sidewalks, and safety zones?will continue to be subject to enforcement as before.
