Gimcheon City Officials Donate 52 Million Won in COVID-19 Relief Fund
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Gimcheon City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 26th that it donated 52 million won in donations to the Community Chest of Korea to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The donation was voluntarily collected by 1,131 Gimcheon City Hall officials to help citizens struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Kim Chung-seop, mayor of Gimcheon, contributed 10 million won, which is 30% of his salary over four months.
The donation will be used for relief activities and medical support for vulnerable groups in the Gimcheon area.

Mayor Kim said, "Although the amount may not be large compared to the suffering citizens are experiencing, I hope that through the donations filled with the hearts of public officials toward the citizens, they will not lose hope and courage."
