According to the prosecution on the 26th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office resolved at the Criminal Case Disclosure Deliberation Committee held the day before to disclose the suspect's personal information and investigation status regarding the Telegram 'Baksa Room' case.
The committee stated that it made this decision after comprehensively considering ▲ the content and seriousness of the case ▲ the suspect's human rights ▲ fairness of the investigation ▲ guarantee of the public's right to know ▲ prevention of recidivism and crime, among other public interests.
According to the committee's decision, Jo's real name, specific position, and other personal information, as well as some investigation details, can be exceptionally disclosed even before indictment.
Earlier, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, which investigated Jo, decided at the Personal Information Disclosure Deliberation Committee held on the 24th to disclose Jo's name, age, face, and other personal information, and disclosed Jo's face when transferring the case to the prosecution the day before.
A prosecution official stated, "Going forward, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office will disclose the suspect's personal information according to the results of the Criminal Case Disclosure Deliberation Committee and will conduct public relations regarding the investigation status within the scope that does not hinder the investigation, in accordance with relevant regulations."
Meanwhile, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office formed a 'Digital Sex Crime Special Investigation Task Force' the day before to strictly respond to cases such as the distribution of illegal sexual exploitation videos, and assigned Jo's case to Deputy Chief Prosecutor Yoo Hyun-jung of the Women and Children Crime Investigation Department, who oversees the task force.
