Gochang-gun, Strawberry Sales Gain Attention with Drive-Thru Method
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] The Gochang County in Jeonbuk received great response from local residents as the strawberry selling event for strawberry farmers was conducted in a 'drive-thru' format.
According to Gochang County on the 25th, a local strawberry sales event was held the previous afternoon at the Gochang Agricultural Products Distribution Center, selling out the prepared quantity of 400kg (worth approximately 4.8 million won at market price).
Strawberries are crops that are difficult to control the shipping time and hard to store for a long time. During the harvest season in March and April, strawberry demand is usually high due to school meals, but due to COVID-19, school openings were delayed and outdoor activities reduced, causing strawberry farmers to struggle with securing sales channels.
The county plans to expand the campaign to promote the consumption of local agricultural products to overcome the difficulties faced by farmers together.
