Deulbul Martyrs Memorial Association Announces Call for Candidates for the 15th Deulbul Award
Applications Accepted Until the 24th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Deulbul Martyrs Memorial Association announced on the 25th that it will accept nominations for the '15th Deulbul Award candidates' until the 24th of next month.
The Deulbul Martyrs Memorial Association established the 'Deulbul Award' to honor the spirit of the Deulbul martyrs and to contribute to the development of democracy in Korean society, awarding it annually.
Individuals or organizations who embody the lives and spirit of the Deulbul martyrs and have made significant contributions to the advancement of democracy, human rights, equality, and peace will be selected and awarded a prize of 10 million won along with a gift.
Last year's 14th Deulbul Award recipient was Ms. Kim Misook, the mother of the late non-regular youth worker Kim Yonggyun.
Nominations will be accepted until the 24th of next month, followed by a review process, and the results will be announced on May 18. The award ceremony is planned to be held at 11 a.m. on May 23 at the Gate of History in the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery.

Meanwhile, the Deulbul Martyrs Memorial Association was established to inherit and honor the spirit of seven Deulbul Night School affiliates?Park Gisoon, Yoon Sangwon, Park Yongjun, Park Gwanhyun, Shin Youngil, Kim Youngcheol, and Park Hyoseon?who risked their lives for democracy. During the harsh 1970s, it founded and operated 'Deulbul Night School,' the first night school for workers in the Gwangju area.
