Hampyeong Fire Station Systematically Conducts Driving Training for New Firefighters
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Hampyeong Fire Station (Chief Im Donghyun) announced on the 25th that it will conduct fire truck driving training for new firefighters in a more systematic and safer way than the existing method.
This measure follows a traffic accident that occurred during fire truck driving training for new employees in Shintaein-eup, Jeongeup.
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters has decided to overhaul the selection method of trainees and legal regulations, breaking away from the formal driving training that continued as a customary practice.
The main improvements include ▲ selecting trainees considering driving skills such as driving experience and career ▲ designating 1:1 mentor-mentee pairs to enhance the management of trainees' training records ▲ conducting competency training led by the fire station chief for designated mentors (driving instructors) at each fire station ▲ implementing an advanced 4-step road driving training instead of the existing 3-step driving course ▲ strengthening management and supervision of training implementation by the command, raising interest and support to prevent safety accidents ▲ pilot operation as a specialized training course at the Fire Academy (fire station’s own OJT mixed training / after the second half of 2020) ▲ adding ‘fire truck driving training’ content to Appendix 3-2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Fire Services Act (types of firefighter education and training).
