Installation of Partition Screens at Songpa-gu Office Civil Service Counters
Installation of Transparent Barriers at 75 Civil Complaint Counters... Thorough Infection Prevention Inside the Government Building
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) has installed 'transparent partitions' at the civil service counters in the district office building as part of 'social distancing' measures to prevent COVID-19.
As cluster infections have occurred repeatedly, the central government recently urged the practice of strengthened 'social distancing' for 15 days. In response, Songpa-gu took action to prevent infections within the office building and to alleviate concerns of residents and staff.
First, the district installed transparent partitions at 75 civil service counters including the Civil Affairs Passport Office, Taxation Division 1, Housing Division, Architecture Division, Real Estate Information Division, Transportation Division, and Health Center.
Considering the nature of civil service counters with frequent face-to-face interactions, this measure aims to minimize contact between residents and staff to prevent infections caused by droplets.
Through the transparent partitions made of tempered glass, residents and staff can maintain distance while still seeing each other and exchanging documents, enabling 'non-face-to-face' service processing.
Previously, Songpa-gu installed thermal imaging cameras at the district office and health center, placed preventive guideline notices throughout the building, and provided hand sanitizers and disinfectants to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Recently, antibacterial films were attached to elevator buttons frequently used by many people in the district office building, and special disinfection and sterilization are conducted weekly on weekends inside the building.
Additionally, the district plans to install partitions in the district office cafeteria.
Previously, Songpa-gu restricted external visitors from entering the cafeteria and operates staggered meal times by department to minimize contact among employees. Upon entering the cafeteria, employees are required to wear masks, sanitize their hands, and have their temperatures checked. The spacing between tables will also be widened to practice 'social distancing.'
Furthermore, as a measure to minimize damage to local businesses, the cafeteria closure schedule has been expanded from once a month to twice a month (every second and fourth Friday) to lead efforts in overcoming the COVID-19 crisis.
