Gyeongnam Office of Education Strengthens Punishment for Misconduct Including False Entries in Student Records
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 24th that it will revise the 'Standards for Handling Misconduct of Public Officials' to strictly punish corrupt public officials, establish public service discipline, and realize a clean Gyeongnam education, and will implement it starting from the 1st of next month.
The standards for handling misconduct of public officials, which have been in effect since 2015, are internal guidelines that establish clear handling criteria for major misconduct cases among criminal cases reported by investigative agencies, and aim to prevent recurrence of the same corruption and irregularities.
The newly added contents by the Gyeongnam Office of Education include ▲ false entries in student records ▲ grade manipulation and leakage of exam questions ▲ intentional concealment and minimization of school violence ▲ unfair election campaigning, infringement of learning rights, and violations of the Public Official Election Act ▲ disclosure and leakage of secrets, improper use and unauthorized leakage of personal information ▲ decision of severe disciplinary action upon detection of public officials driving under the influence ▲ application of higher handling standards in cases of concurrent misconduct by public officials.
