Shinshi Company Musical 'Mamma Mia!' and Play 'Let Me In' Performances Canceled
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The production company Shinsi Company announced on the 24th that it will cancel the performances of the musical 'Mamma Mia!' and the play 'Let Me In.'
Shinsi Company explained that the decision to cancel the performances was made due to the global spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), which has led to cancellations of performances on Broadway in the United States and the West End in the United Kingdom. Additionally, the government has recommended restrictions on the use of multi-use facilities and strongly urged 'social distancing.'
'Mamma Mia!' was originally scheduled to open on March 8 but was postponed to April 7 due to COVID-19, and now the cancellation has been finalized.
The play 'Let Me In,' which was scheduled to open on the 30th of next month, has also been canceled. 'Let Me In' is a replica production co-produced by Shinsi Company and the National Theatre of Scotland (NTS). The original team's co-director Luke Kernaghan had already come to Korea and started rehearsals on the 16th. However, as the UK government advised against overseas travel, the production team from the national company NTS could not come, leading to the decision to cancel the performance, Shinsi Company explained.
