O Taeyang "Disillusioned with the Democratic Party... The Ruling Party Needs a Whip" Running for Gwangjin-eul
Gwangjin-eul, Gominjeong's Strategic Nomination Area
"Deobureo Simindang, Not a Coalition Party but a Satellite Party of the Democratic Party"
"Democratic Party Abandoned the Centrist Voters to Secure Seats"
[Asia Economy Reporter Won Dara] Oh Taeyang, co-representative of the Miraedang, criticized, saying, "I feel disillusioned with the leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea," and added, "The ruling party needs a whip." He also raised his voice against the Deobureo Citizen Party, calling it not a proportional alliance party but a satellite party of the Democratic Party.
On the morning of the 24th, Oh appeared on MBC Radio and responded to the question, "Can it be seen as coming out to defeat candidate Go Min-jung?" by saying, "I am going to receive votes from moderate youth," and added, "I don't know what choice voters will make, but the ruling party needs a whip."
Oh had previously announced, "Since the 21st general election has turned out this way, I will give up proportional representation and run in a local constituency," and declared, "I will run in Gwangjin-eul under the name of Oh Taeyang." Gwangjin-eul is the district where the Democratic Party strategically nominated former Blue House spokesperson Go Min-jung.
When asked, "It is clearly a negative factor for candidate Go Min-jung and a positive factor for candidate Oh Se-hoon," he replied, "Many people see it that way. I will form a three-way structure and play the role of a casting vote." However, he added, "It was also my second hometown where I stayed for 32 years. Miraedang had been preparing for a strategic nomination for a long time, so there is that aspect as well."
Oh also said, "I feel disillusioned with the fraud of some of the Democratic Party's leadership." Miraedang had early on expressed its intention to participate in an election alliance party, but joining the Deobureo Citizen Party fell through.
Oh said, "Wasn't there a lot of concern about the defection of moderate voters during the process of promoting the proportional alliance party?" and added, "Looking at the Democratic Party's satellite party, I see that they abandoned the moderate voters and secured the number of seats." He emphasized, "Among the minor parties that decided to participate in the Deobureo Citizen Party, only two received candidate nominations. It should be seen not as an alliance party but as a satellite party of the Democratic Party of Korea."
Regarding the explanation from the Democratic Party and the Deobureo Citizen Party that Miraedang's failure to join was because Miraedang and the Green Party demanded a prior allocation of 3 or 4 seats, Oh said, "I clearly state this. It is a blatant lie and false information."
Oh said, "There were two things I requested," and explained, "First, because civil society organizations should not be divided, the Deobureo Citizen Party and the Political Reform Union should be integrated; second, instead of unofficial behind-the-scenes contacts, I asked to discuss openly, but the Democratic Party side did not agree."

He added, "How could there have been talks about seat negotiations when public negotiations had not even started?" and firmly stated, "There were no seat negotiations at all."
