Mapo-gu Recommends Daily Disinfection of Restaurants, Public Facilities, and Government Offices
Restaurants, accommodations, government offices, and performance venues recommended to self-disinfect at least once daily... Daily disinfection alleviates residents' anxiety and prevents community infectious disease spread
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) has recommended daily disinfection of all multi-use facilities in the district starting from the 20th to thoroughly prevent the spread of infectious diseases as the COVID-19 situation has prolonged.
After the COVID-19 crisis alert was raised to the highest level, the "serious stage," and the spread of infection showed signs of long-term continuation, the district urgently implemented the recommendation for daily disinfection of multi-use facilities to more actively block community transmission.
This daily disinfection recommendation aims to remind representatives of multi-use facilities such as restaurants and lodging businesses of their obligation to disinfect business premises under Article 50 of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, and to establish daily disinfection as a routine practice among residents, which is expected to greatly contribute to preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
The facilities subject to this measure include all multi-use facilities such as "schools, hospitals, government offices, companies, performance venues, places of worship, various offices, restaurants, lodging businesses, or other places where many people gather as defined by the Ministry of Health and Welfare."
The district has posted detailed disinfection methods, procedures, and disinfectant usage guidelines on the Mapo-gu Office website (www.mapo.go.kr) for reference during self-disinfection.
Additionally, the district has been conducting phased disinfection through professional disinfection companies for population-dense and infection-vulnerable facilities such as daycare centers, senior citizen centers, PC rooms, karaoke rooms, religious facilities, as well as vulnerable residential facilities like goshiwons where self-disinfection is difficult.
Furthermore, together with 16 community service centers in the district and the Mapo-gu Saemaeul Autonomous Disinfection Team, the public and private sectors have united to regularly conduct disinfection and sterilization two to three times a week throughout the district, mobilizing all disinfection capabilities to help overcome the COVID-19 crisis.
