Chonnam National University Extends Remote Classes Until Next Month 3 Due to COVID-19 Impact
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chonnam National University has decided to extend remote classes until the 3rd of next month.
Chonnam National University announced on the 23rd that, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it will extend the remote classes, which were originally scheduled for two weeks until the 27th of this month, by one more week until the 3rd of next month.
Accordingly, the first semester midterm exam schedule will also be extended by one week, from the original April 27 to May 1, to May 4 to 8.
Furthermore, Chonnam National University plans to avoid the lecture substitution method using 'assignments' to ensure the quality of education in case remote classes are extended again, and will actively encourage 'uploading video materials' and 'real-time video lectures.'
To this end, the university will conduct focused training for course instructors and teaching assistants.
Even in cases where the 'assignment utilization' method continues exceptionally, measures to improve the quality of education and student satisfaction will be sought, but 'supplementary in-person classes' will be avoided as much as possible considering that securing make-up class hours later may be difficult.

Additionally, a 'Academic Operation Support TFT' will be formed with relevant departments and student representatives to prepare smooth academic operation support plans following the implementation of remote classes. In particular, the university will collect and reflect inconveniences or suggestions related to remote classes mainly from student council representatives, while also preparing support measures for students with disabilities and those who have difficulty accessing remote classes.
