Bucheon-si Extends Childcare Center Closures for 2 More Weeks Until April 5
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province has extended the closure period of all daycare centers in the region by an additional two weeks due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The city initially extended the reopening date from the 8th to the 22nd by two weeks, but on the 20th announced that the closure period would be extended by another two weeks to protect infants and young children who are vulnerable to infection.
This measure was taken considering that infections occurring in densely populated places such as schools and daycare centers could spread to homes and society.
To minimize the care gap caused by the continued closure, daycare centers are assigning duty teachers to provide emergency childcare. The city plans to support concurrent measures such as indoor disinfection carried out by daycare centers to prevent infection.
The city also expanded the childcare service from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. so that parents can use the service with peace of mind and children can receive care safely.
