IDC "Global Semiconductor Market May Shrink Up to 12% This Year"
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] As the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) sweeps across the globe, it is forecasted that the global semiconductor market could shrink by up to 12% this year.
On the 19th, according to industry sources, market research firm IDC recently presented four scenarios in its report titled 'The Impact of COVID-19 on the Global Semiconductor Market Outlook.'
Among the four scenarios, the worst case predicts that global semiconductor sales will decline by more than 12% compared to last year.
The most likely scenario is a 6% contraction compared to last year, with a probability of 54%.
IDC stated, "If this scenario unfolds, supply chains must be restored by this summer, and quarantine and travel restrictions need to be lifted."
