Jeonnam Police Conduct Enhanced Selective Drunk Driving Checks for COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Amid a temporary lull in drunk driving crackdowns due to the nationwide spread of COVID-19, recent fatal traffic accidents caused by drunk driving have raised the need for enforcement.
The Jeonnam Police announced on the 19th that, as drunk driving and related traffic accidents have increased by taking advantage of the COVID-19 spread situation, they will conduct a more "strengthened selective drunk driving crackdown."
The "strengthened selective drunk driving crackdown" involves arranging enforcement equipment such as rubber cones, patrol cars, and signboards in an S-shape to slow down drivers passing through, then selecting suspicious vehicles that stagger or brake suddenly for immediate breathalyzer testing.
A Jeonnam Police Agency official stated, "We will conduct the strengthened selective drunk driving crackdown in vulnerable areas for drunk driving, such as urban areas and entertainment districts during vulnerable times."
