Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin: "Will Hold Responsible for Spread of Infectious Diseases in Group Facilities"
Cumulative Confirmed Cases Increase by 97 in One Day to 6,241
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] As the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) surged again in Daegu, the mayor of Daegu declared a tough policy to hold those responsible legally accountable if a large-scale group infection occurs.
On the morning of the 19th, at a regular briefing, Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin stated, "If a large-scale infectious disease outbreak is confirmed due to negligence in the management of facilities and hospitals in the future, we will actively consider legal measures against those responsible."
He emphasized that because elderly people with weakened immunity or patients live together in confined spaces, COVID-19 infections spread rapidly within facilities, increasing the likelihood of severe cases, urging facility workers to remain vigilant.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Daegu area reached 6,241 as of 0:00 on the 19th, an increase of 97 from the previous day.
Mayor Kwon said, "All workers at related facilities should strictly follow COVID-19 prevention guidelines and closely monitor not only themselves but also the condition of patients. If any abnormal signs occur, please report immediately to the Disease Control Headquarters call center or the nearest public health center."
