Hwang Kyo-an "Mirae Hangukdang Cannot Be Overlooked... Firm Decision Needed"
[Asia Economy Reporters Lee Ji-eun and Kim Hye-min] Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the United Future Party, announced a firm decision regarding the nomination controversy of the Future Korea Party, stating, "We cannot just let this slide."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 19th, Hwang said, "The Future Korea Party was supposed to be a vessel of hope embodying innovation and integration against the monstrous election law, but it has shown results far from the people's aspirations and expectations, causing disappointment and concern."
He emphasized, "Considering the meaning and importance of this election, we cannot just let this slide," and added, "A firm decision is necessary."
He continued, "We will break away from old-fashioned and bad politics and quickly correct the problems to return to the path of victory," adding, "All this confusion is the result of the monstrous election law created by the collusion between the Democratic Party of Korea and its followers, and we will definitely restore normalcy through election law reform after the general election."
Comments were also directed at those who are running as independents in defiance of the United Future Party's nomination results. Hwang said, "Disobedience to nominations and running as independents sow the seeds of division and defeat," and requested on behalf of the people, "Do not betray the people's earnest desire for regime judgment and uphold it."
He stated, "I and the United Future Party know well that successful nominations are directly linked to winning the general election, and we have all done our best for winning nominations," emphasizing transparent nominations by saying, "I personally relinquished all authority and entrusted it to the nomination committee to conduct transparent nominations, and even when criticized inside and outside, I managed the nomination process solely focusing on the people to break away from factional nominations and old practices."
Regarding the recent economic situation, he also said that the government must abandon income-led growth and make a major shift in economic direction. He said, "Income-led growth has weakened the private-led free market economy," and "Without curing this underlying disease, it will be difficult to overcome the current economic crisis."

Hwang said, "During the crises in 1997 and 2008, while expanding fiscal spending, policies such as deregulation and labor flexibility were implemented to successfully overcome the crisis, and these prescriptions align with the Minbu Theory that our party has consistently advocated," adding, "We must not fall into the temptation of cash handouts but learn lessons from past incidents to make a major shift in economic policy and revive the free market economy."
