Iran COVID-19 Deaths Surpass 1,000... Over 100 Deaths Daily for Four Consecutive Days

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The number of deaths in Iran due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) increased by 147 from the previous day, reaching a total of 1,135.
The Iranian Ministry of Health announced this status as of noon on the 18th (local time). In Iran, for four consecutive days until this day, more than 100 COVID-19 patients have died daily, and the daily increase on this day is the largest. As the number of deaths rapidly increased, the fatality rate also rose to 6.5%.
The number of confirmed cases increased by 1,192 (7.4%↑), totaling 17,361. Iran ranks third in the number of COVID-19 deaths and confirmed cases, following China and Italy. The cumulative number of recovered patients is 5,710, recording a recovery rate of 32.9%.

The Iranian state-run IRNA news agency reported that a 103-year-old woman in Semnan Province in northern Iran, who was being treated for COVID-19, was discharged after recovering in one week. Additionally, a 91-year-old man in Kerman Province in southeastern Iran, despite having underlying conditions, recovered in three days.
