Wando-gun Selected as the Only Area in Jeonnam Province for Lifelong Education Promotion Project
Promotion of Training-Based Job Creation Courses and Social Service Activities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyungpil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that it has achieved the great success of being selected for the Ministry of Education's 'Regional Lifelong Education Activation Support Project (Lifelong Learning City Specialization Support)' following its selection in February for the Ministry of Education's 'Adult Literacy Education Support Project,' securing 48.5 million KRW in national funding.
This public contest project, promoted by the Ministry of Education to prepare for the 4th Industrial Revolution and the 100-year lifespan era by establishing a regional lifelong learning system to improve the quality of life throughout individuals' entire lives and promote mutual development of local communities, selected 17 basic local governments nationwide, with Wando-gun being the only one selected in Jeollanam-do.
With this selection, the county plans to use a project budget of 50 million KRW to create high project satisfaction and social value through providing inclusive learning opportunities, by promoting courses related to creating learning-type jobs, social service, and social return activities.

Meanwhile, since being designated as a new lifelong learning city by the Ministry of Education in 2017, Wando-gun has been promoting various lifelong education projects reflecting regional characteristics, receiving high responses from residents, and plans to operate 80 courses in the first half of this year with a project budget of 350 million KRW.
