"Typhoon-Force Winds Expected Tomorrow" … Ministry of the Interior and Safety Urges Safety of Facilities Including Screening Clinics
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that from the early morning of the 19th, typhoon-level strong winds with maximum instantaneous wind speeds exceeding 90 km/h are forecast nationwide, necessitating preparations for facility management and safety accidents.
On the afternoon of the 18th, the Ministry held an emergency countermeasure meeting at the Central Disaster Safety Situation Room with related ministries and local governments to focus on response plans for the scope of the strong winds' impact and safety management of outdoor facilities expected to be damaged.
In particular, they concentrated on inspecting and preparing safety management measures for vulnerable facilities such as temporary structures including tents installed for COVID-19 screening, windbreak screens at bus stops, outdoor signboards, vinyl greenhouses, steel towers, and tower cranes.
They also urged preemptive measures such as moving signboards, windows, and objects at risk of flying indoors, as well as refraining from going out or performing outdoor work and reducing vehicle speeds.
