Italian Alberto: "Italy's situation is not good, but... I go out to the terrace and sing"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Italian broadcaster Alberto Mondi (36) reported on the serious situation of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Italy.
On the 18th, Alberto said on MBC Radio's 'Good Morning FM with Jang Sung-kyu,' "The situation in Italy is not good."
He said, "Fortunately, my family is fine. The situation varies by region." He continued, "Our area is okay because testing is done quickly, but many regions are currently not doing well. A state of emergency has been declared, and movement is restricted. Everyone is staying at home."
Alberto's hometown is Mirano, Venice, Veneto Province, a city located in northern Italy. As of 6 p.m. on the 16th (local time), the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Veneto Province was 2,473.
Alberto said, "Since we have to stay at home, we get bored, so every afternoon we go out to the terrace and sing together. We don't know each other, but we sing together." He added, "Famous musicians and DJs cannot perform, so they sing and DJ on the terrace."
He also shared, "Some people sing exciting songs that every Italian knows, and some even sing the national anthem."
