Focus on 'Supporting Digital Transformation' and 'Strengthening Competitiveness in Logistics Business'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Hong Won-pyo, CEO of Samsung SDS, has announced securing growth engines through global business as this year's management policy.
Samsung SDS held its 35th regular general shareholders' meeting on the 18th at the Jamsil campus in Seoul.
At the meeting, CEO Hong said in his greeting, "To further expand overseas business this year, we have set the management policy as securing growth engines through global business," adding, "We will pursue sustainable growth based on a solid business system and a new technology-based platform."
To this end, CEO Hong emphasized focusing on three key initiatives: ▲expanding global external business ▲actively supporting digital transformation of corporate clients ▲strengthening competitiveness in logistics business.
At the shareholders' meeting, agenda items such as approval of financial statements, appointment of directors and audit committee members, and approval of dividends were passed.
Last year, Samsung SDS achieved record-high performance with sales of 10.7196 trillion KRW and operating profit of 990.1 billion KRW. In particular, external business grew by 31% compared to 2018, driving growth.
Last year, Samsung SDS expanded its global IT development centers located in India, Vietnam, and China to strengthen global business execution capabilities and secure cost competitiveness. It also innovated work methods by utilizing its self-developed AI-based work automation solution, 'BriteWorks.'
Additionally, it secured new technologies in cloud and security fields by investing in Israel's Igozio, the US's SentinelOne, and Jitterbit, and laid the foundation for expanding the Southeast Asian market through strategic equity investment in Vietnamese IT service company CMC.
