On the 16th, about 50 people including instructors and students of the quilt craft class at Wando Cultural Center, the Wando-gun Women's Association Council, the Marine Healing Male Choir, and volunteers produced filter-replaceable cotton masks.
The washable and reusable filter-replaceable cotton masks were produced with nine filters included, and a promotional sticker for ‘Marine Healing Wando’ was attached to the packaging.
The county plans to produce and purchase a total of 9,000 masks to deliver to the Health and Medical Center and distribute them to low-income and vulnerable groups in the area who have difficulty purchasing masks.
Im Hee-deok, president of the Wando-gun Women's Association Council, who participated in the cotton mask production volunteer work, along with other members, said, “We participated because we wanted to help our residents live safely in a situation where the people are suffering due to COVID-19.”
On the day, Shin Woo-cheol, Wando-gun governor, visited the cotton mask production site and said, “Thank you for practicing sharing during these difficult and challenging times,” and added, “We expect that the masks produced today will greatly help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community and protect the safety of our residents.”
Meanwhile, since February, the county has sequentially purchased cotton masks and distributed a total of about 51,000 masks to residents.
