Naver to Fully Disclose News Comment History Starting from the 19th
Total Count of All Posted Comments, Number of Comments, and Received Likes Aggregated
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Naver will disclose the history of comments users have written on news articles to eradicate malicious comments.
According to the information and communication (IT) industry on the 18th, Naver will disclose the list of all comments written by Naver News commenters starting from the 19th. Until now, users could decide whether to disclose the news comments they wrote, but from now on, all will be disclosed.
Comments that users have deleted themselves will not be visible, but all currently posted comments, the number of comments, and the number of likes received will be aggregated. The ratio of likes received in the last 30 days and the ratio of comments recently deleted by the user will also be displayed.
Naver also plans to allow users to comment on news articles only after 7 days of new registration. A Naver official said, "This is a measure to prevent cases where users cancel their IDs or switch to dormant IDs after a short period of commenting activity following registration," adding, "IDs verified with real names are not subject to this."
