Seongbuk-gu Sanitation Workers Deployed for Special COVID-19 Disinfection
66 Public Officials for Horizontal Work, Total Extension 125km, COVID-19 Special Quarantine Operation Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced that since the 10th, street maintenance public officers (sanitation workers) affiliated with the district office have been deployed for special COVID-19 response disinfection to prevent the local spread of COVID-19.
Amid growing concerns about the spread of COVID-19 infections in the local community and increasing anxiety among residents, Seongbuk-gu sanitation workers are conducting focused disinfection operations targeting multi-use areas frequently used by many residents, such as bus stops, subway entrances, and benches.
The 66 sanitation workers (public officers) deployed this time perform street cleaning in the morning and conduct disinfection work in their assigned areas two to three times a week in the afternoon.
Additionally, since the sanitation workers are well familiar with the characteristics of the streets and the flow of people, the disinfection work is expected to be more effective.
A district official stated, “The street maintenance public officers will continue disinfection at public facilities, including resident convenience facilities and transportation infrastructure along a total length of 125 km, as well as multi-use areas, until the COVID-19 risk is resolved.”
