Daegu City-Police Launch Second Administrative Investigation of 'Shincheonji Daegu Church'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Daegu City began a second administrative investigation at 9:10 a.m. on the 17th to verify suspicions of missing members from the Shincheonji Jesus Church Daegu congregation.
About 100 people, including Daegu city officials and police officers, are participating in this investigation.
Previously, on the 12th, the city conducted a first administrative investigation of the Shincheonji Daegu Church together with the police, but due to a problem with the DB program managing the internal server, data from 49 computers could not be checked.
Accordingly, the city plans to verify the internal computer information inside the church with the help of police forensic equipment and 17 professional analysts.
It is expected to take about 6 to 7 hours just to extract the internal data from the Shincheonji Daegu Church computers.
Meanwhile, the police are analyzing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the church’s 7th to 9th floors over a three-month period starting December 9 of last year.
The city, together with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, plans to focus on reviewing recordings from after January 15, before the 31st confirmed case, identified as a COVID-19 super-spreader, attended worship.
