Yeongdeungpo-gu Completes On-Site Quarantine Inspections at 517 PC Rooms and Karaoke Venues
Comprehensive Survey of 517 Locations Including 343 Singing Practice Rooms and 174 PC Bangs... Joint Investigation Team with Seoul City to Start Survey from the 13th, Completion by the 15th
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) has completed a full survey and on-site inspection of 517 multi-use facilities in the area, including PC bangs and singing practice rooms, to proactively block community transmission of COVID-19.
Recently, small-scale group infections of COVID-19 have frequently occurred in the Seoul metropolitan area. In particular, several confirmed cases were reported at a PC bang in Seoul a few days ago.
In response, the district formed a joint investigation team with Seoul City starting from the 13th to conduct a full survey and on-site inspection of multi-use facilities, including PC bangs, regarding their quarantine status.
The multi-use facilities subject to this full survey include 343 singing practice rooms (including 20 coin singing practice rooms) and 174 PC bangs, totaling 517 locations. A team of 36 inspectors, composed of 24 district employees and 12 from Seoul City, was organized into pairs to conduct the inspections.
The survey items included △whether the business is operating △whether, how, and how often disinfection is conducted △availability of hand sanitizers, among others. The district also confirmed infection control officers and distributed guidelines, as well as promotional materials such as posters and information about the ongoing ‘Pause for a Moment’ campaign.
By the 15th, the district completed a comprehensive inspection of all 517 multi-use facilities, urging all businesses to thoroughly conduct self-disinfection and inform users of safety rules.
The survey results confirmed that 92% of currently operating businesses had implemented disinfection measures; however, some businesses had not yet conducted disinfection, and the district plans to carry out direct disinfection for these locations.
Additionally, the district is supporting all multi-use facilities by distributing coronavirus sterilizing disinfectants (quarantine supplies) approved by the Ministry of Environment, enabling businesses to disinfect regularly.
On the 15th, after identifying the movement path of the 11th confirmed case residing in the district, the district immediately disinfected a PC bang visited by the confirmed case from 10:00 PM to 11:20 PM on the 13th and ordered a temporary closure from 5:00 PM on the 15th to 8:00 AM on the 16th.
Furthermore, the district ordered eight local colatecs to close temporarily to prevent COVID-19 transmission; as a result, two locations will remain closed until the 20th, and six will remain closed until the COVID-19 situation stabilizes.
