China Provides Medical Supplies to Spain and the Philippines Following Italy
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] China is providing medical supplies to Spain and the Philippines following a surge in COVID-19 cases in Italy.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 16th, Wang Yi, State Councilor and Foreign Minister in charge of diplomacy, announced during a call with Arancha Gonzalez Laya, Spain's Foreign Minister, that China would support medical supplies.
Commissioner Wang said, "China has decided to urgently provide medical supplies according to Spain's needs," adding, "We will also open commercial channels so that Spain can import urgent personal protective equipment and medical supplies."
He also promised medical support to the Philippines during a call with Teodoro Locsin, the Philippine Foreign Minister, on the same day.
Commissioner Wang emphasized, "China empathizes with the difficulties currently faced by the Filipino people and wants to overcome this challenging time together. China aims to assist the Philippines as much as possible and has already decided to send urgent medical supplies such as test kits and protective clothing, and is actively coordinating the dispatch of medical personnel."
