30s Son Sentenced for Assaulting Father Over Refusal to Give Money
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] A man in his 30s who assaulted his biological father for refusing to give him money was sentenced to prison.
On the 16th, the Daejeon District Court Criminal Division 4 (Presiding Judge Im Dae-ho) announced that it sentenced A (39), who was indicted on charges including assault against a lineal ascendant, to two years in prison, the same as the original trial.
The court stated, "Despite the defendant having received a total of 14 criminal punishments, including crimes similar to this case, he did not improve and committed the crime again. Considering that the motive and nature of this crime are by no means light, such as threatening with a weapon because his parents refused to give him money, the sentencing judgment of the original trial does not appear to have exceeded the reasonable range of discretion, so the defendant's appeal was dismissed."
