According to the district, recently a basic livelihood security recipient visited the Bukahyeon-dong Community Service Center to donate money.
This resident, who has a son with visual impairment and brain lesion disability, said, "There were times when I wanted to give up on life while raising my child alone, but I have lived diligently thinking of my son," and added, "Due to the COVID-19 crisis, I became worried about disabled families who are in more difficult situations than me, so I brought a small donation."
The Bukahyeon-dong Community Service Center plans to deliver daily necessities purchased with the donation to a vulnerable single-parent family resident who is raising a 2-year-old child alone, in accordance with the donor's wishes.
The support recipient is visually impaired, making it difficult to purchase daily necessities, and the COVID-19 situation has made it harder to go out with a young child, worsening their livelihood.
Upon hearing that a neighboring single-parent family wants to deliver support items, the recipient expressed gratitude, saying, "I am thankful for this warm world and have gained great hope."
Kwon Heon-yuk, head of Bukahyeon-dong, said, "With the warm hearts of neighbors, our society will surely overcome the COVID-19 crisis."
Additionally, a resident of Bukgajwa 1-dong recently donated 60 handmade cotton masks with replaceable filters to the community center, asking that they be given to low-income elderly citizens.
This resident said, "Seeing the elderly waiting to buy masks made me feel sorry, so I prepared these," and added, "Although it is not a large amount, I hope it will be a small help for the elderly to overcome this crisis."
