View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 74 on the 16th, bringing the total to 8,236.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on the day, the number of confirmed domestic cases increased by 74 compared to 4 p.m. the previous day. The additional patients in the metropolitan area and Daegu-Gyeongbuk region were 26 and 42, respectively.
By region, Daegu had the highest number with 35 cases, followed by Gyeonggi (20), Gyeongbuk (7), Seoul (6), Busan (1), and Sejong (1). Four cases were also detected during quarantine procedures such as special entry procedures.

The number of patients who have been declared recovered and released from isolation increased by 303 from the previous day to 1,137. The death toll remained the same at 75.
