Prime Minister Abe: "I Want to Hold the Olympics as Scheduled"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe stated that he wants to overcome the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and hold the Olympics as scheduled.
On the afternoon of the 14th, at a press conference held at the Japanese Prime Minister's Official Residence, Prime Minister Abe said, "When comparing the number of infected people per 10,000 population, Japan remains at 0.06."
He added, "Considering this situation, it is not the time to declare a state of emergency at this point."
When asked whether the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics will be held as scheduled, he replied, "I want to hold them as planned."
