'Banggu-seok 1yeol' Professor Myeong Seung-kwon: "The movie 'Gamgi' is closer to a documentary"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Hee-eun Park] JTBC's 'Banggu-seok 1-yeol' will cover movies that are helpful for reference regarding the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) over the course of two weeks starting today (15th).
On this broadcast, Professor Myeong Seung-kwon from the National Cancer Center and reporter Lee Ga-hyeok, who hosts the fact-checking segment on 'JTBC Newsroom,' will appear.
In a recent recording of 'Banggu-seok 1-yeol,' the films 'The Flu' and 'World War Z' were selected as movies that are good references for the current situation.
Regarding this, director Byun Young-joo explained that both works "deal with a pandemic (a state in which an infectious disease spreads worldwide, referring to the highest risk level in the World Health Organization's epidemic alert system) similar to the current COVID-19 situation, so it would be good to watch these two films as a reference during the present times."
Reporter Joo Seong-cheol especially evaluated 'The Flu' as "'The Flu' is a very meticulously made film the more you watch it." He said, "It resonates even more now than when the movie was first released."
Professor Myeong Seung-kwon also shared his thoughts, saying, "'The Flu' is a film that is so medically well-expressed regarding the viral infection situation that it feels like a documentary."
Meanwhile, during the recording, director Byun Young-joo concluded the discussion by expressing gratitude, saying, "I want to send applause to the numerous medical staff and nursing officers working against COVID-19 in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions."
