20s Arrested for Assaulting Teenage Girl with Blunt Object and Stealing Phone
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] A man in his 20s who struck a woman walking with a blunt object and fled after stealing her mobile phone and other valuables has been arrested by the police.
Jeonbuk Jeonju Wansan Police Station announced on the 13th that they plan to request an arrest warrant for A (23) on charges of robbery and injury.
A is accused of hitting the head of B (19), who was taking a walk along Samcheonbyeon in Hyoja-dong, Jeonju, with a blunt object at around 10:05 p.m. on the 12th, then stealing a mobile phone and a hat worth about 1 million won before fleeing.
Police who responded to the report analyzed nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and apprehended A on a street in Uwa-dong three hours after the incident occurred.
B was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries.
During the police investigation, A reportedly stated, "I did it because I needed money."
