Min Hyun-joo in Tears: "Kim Hyung-o, Who Reversed 'Min Kyung-wook Cutoff,' Should Resign" Protest
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Former Saenuri Party lawmaker Min Hyun-joo strongly protested on the 13th, saying, "Representative Hwang Kyo-ahn and Kim Hyung-o, the chairman of the nomination committee, should take responsibility for the nomination reversal incident and resign." She was nominated as the United Future Party candidate for Yeonsu-eul, Incheon, but the party's nomination committee accepted the leadership's request for reconsideration, leading her to compete in a primary against lawmaker Min Kyung-wook.
Former lawmaker Min held a press conference at the National Assembly's Press Hall on the same day and pointed out, "Yesterday, Chairman Kim overturned the nomination result that cut off lawmaker Min within half a day based on a single word from Representative Hwang."
She protested, saying, "Both Representative Hwang, who said he would give autonomy to the nomination committee, and Chairman Kim, who said he would operate the committee independently, have thrown away their promise of reform nominations like a discarded object."
Former lawmaker Min sharply criticized Chairman Kim, asking, "Are you admitting that the principles and decisions of the nomination committee that initially cut off lawmaker Min were wrong?" and added, "With the nomination reversal, the United Future Party has become a pro-Park party with no future and no unity."

Overcome with emotion during the press conference, she shed tears and said, "I declared my candidacy as the United Future Party candidate to the residents of Yeonsu-eul, not as a candidate of the pro-Park party," and added, "I will keep open the possibilities of participating in the primary or running as an independent and will consider my options."
