Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education Supports Budget for Purchasing Safety Equipment for Vocational High Schools
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Jang Hwikuk) announced on the 11th that it has provided a budget for the purchase of safety equipment to protect vocational high school students and teachers from hazardous environments and risk factors during experiments and practical training, and to secure health rights.
The purchase budget is allocated by vocational high school departments and majors to buy one safety equipment per person to prevent safety accidents and harmful factors that may occur during experiment and practical training classes, and is distributed to each experiment and practice room.
This is expected to have a twofold effect of preventing safety accidents during experiments and practical training for students and teachers, as well as preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Vocational high schools in the district plan to provide hand sanitizers, masks, and other supplies stocked in each experiment and practice room to all students after school opens to protect them from COVID-19, and teachers are thoroughly preparing for the new semester by conducting self-disinfection for each experiment and practice.
In addition to COVID-19 prevention, subject teachers and homeroom teachers are minimizing expected learning loss during school closures and communicating with students by using phone counseling, SNS (group chats), and home correspondence letters to check students' health status, provide learning support, and conduct individual counseling.
Park Jujeong, principal of Jeonnam Technical High School, said, “Due to the delay in school opening caused by the spread of COVID-19, we will carefully take care with all faculty members to ensure that no blind spots occur in protecting students from difficult home environments and make thorough preparations for the new semester.”
