[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheolhyun] As the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) rapidly spreads domestically and the government, medical community, and local governments are making every effort to overcome the national emergency, domestic venture companies are also fighting COVID-19 by utilizing their respective technologies.
According to the Venture Business Association on the 11th, BodaCom, a communication platform specialized venture company (CEO Ryu Sihoon), has decided to provide its real-time video consultation software 'VideoHelpMe' free of charge until May for public institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, and individual business owners who find face-to-face tasks such as on-site inspections and services difficult due to the COVID-19 situation. This software allows easy video access anytime and anywhere through sending a text link without the need to separately install a mobile app or go through a login process.
Cloud specialist company Tilon (CEO Choi Baekjun) is also providing solutions necessary for implementing smart work free of charge to small and medium-sized enterprises until the situation stabilizes in response to the spread of COVID-19. Through desktop virtualization using virtual PCs on the cloud, all work is conducted on the server, so work can be performed identically to the office without restrictions on the type of device or network environment, including PCs, smartphones, and tablets.
Vibros (CEO Song Yongbeom), which operates the hospital reservation service 'Ddokdak,' supports mobile hospital reservation services, COVID-19 pre-screening functions, and real-time mask map support. Without visiting the hospital directly, users can pre-register for medical treatment via the app and check their treatment order in real time, minimizing secondary infections or spread in waiting rooms. Additionally, by answering questions about recent visits to China, contact with confirmed patients, or visits to outbreak areas before visiting the hospital, the information is automatically sent to the hospital, enabling proactive measures by medical staff.
NowBusking (CEO Jeon Sangyeol), which operates the KakaoTalk-based waiting service 'NowWaiting,' is supporting a 'smart waiting service' to resolve the mask shortage issue and the difficulty of waiting in long lines for extended periods. By entering their birth year and phone number on kiosks installed at pharmacies, users receive a waiting number in order, and when masks arrive at the pharmacy, the situation is communicated to the waiters via KakaoTalk or text message.

This COVID-19 outbreak is also expected to accelerate the development of non-face-to-face and contactless security system technologies. Ever Information Technology (CEO Cheon Jaedu), a manufacturer of access control and video surveillance devices, has developed facial recognition technology that analyzes facial blood flow to measure body temperature and identify users within 0.1 seconds to control access. It is scheduled for commercialization in the first half of this year and is expected to be applied at airports and other locations to enable immediate action for febrile patients.
