Gyeonggi-do Provides 3.265 Million KRW per Hectare for Cultivating Other Crops in Rice Fields
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will provide an average of 3,265,000 KRW per hectare in support if farmers cultivate crops other than rice in paddy fields this year, depending on the crop.
The eligible farmland must be at least 1,000㎡ in area and must have either received support for cultivating other crops in 2018?2019 or have had rice cultivated at least once between 2017 and 2019.
The eligible crops are annual and perennial crops excluding eight items with concerns of oversupply: radish, napa cabbage, chili pepper, green onion, garlic, onion, potato, and sweet potato.
The support amount per hectare by crop type is 4.3 million KRW for forage crops (such as forage rice and forage corn), 2.7 million KRW for general crops and green manure (cover crops), and 2.55 million KRW for legumes (soybean, red bean, mung bean, peanut, etc.).
Separately, if paddy fields are left fallow this year, 2.1 million KRW will be provided.
For farmland not receiving public interest direct payments, 4.3 million KRW is paid for forage crops, 3.4 million KRW for general crops and green manure, 3.25 million KRW for legumes, and 2.8 million KRW for fallow.

The province will accept support applications from farmers and agricultural corporations at local town, township, and neighborhood community centers by June 30 after confirming detailed implementation conditions by crop. The support funds will be paid in December following contract compliance inspections from July to October.
