Local florists have been facing difficulties as flower consumption has decreased and sales have sharply declined due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, which led to the cancellation of events such as graduation and entrance ceremonies.
In response, the district is launching a campaign encouraging all employees to use flower shops every Tuesday.
Initiatives include "One Flower per Office Table," office environment improvement themed around flowers, and giving flowers instead of candy for White Day, aiming to promote the use of 48 local florists.
Son ㅇㅇ (54, female), who runs a flower shop in Sadang-dong, said, "Sales have decreased by about 30-40% compared to last year due to the cancellation of corporate and school events," and added, "I am grateful that district office employees are using flower shops like this."
The district also operates "Traditional Market Days" twice a month. All employees individually support merchants who are struggling due to a decrease in customers by shopping and dining at the markets.
Additionally, 14 local institutions, including companies and banks, participate in Traditional Market Days, using the markets at least once a month. Going forward, the district plans to promote florists to public institutions and private companies and encourage participation in Flower Shop Usage Days to expand local consumption.
The "Good Rent Movement," which offers rent reductions, is also spreading voluntarily among residents in the area. So far, 109 building owners have expressed their willingness to participate, allowing tenants of a total of 274 stores to receive monthly rent reduction benefits.
