[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) announced on the 10th that they will accept applications for the director position of the 'Korea-Germany Technology Cooperation Center,' which is scheduled to open in the first half of this year, until the 31st of this month.
The center will be established in the Aachen Special Zone Technology Complex in the NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia) federal state, which boasts world-class research and development (R&D) infrastructure including RWTH Aachen University, Germany's largest technical university.
The center will serve as a gateway providing opportunities for technological cooperation in materials and components between Korean mid-sized companies and Germany, and is currently in the process of recruiting resident companies and completing establishment procedures.
Considering that the center will be located overseas, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to hire a global talent as the director who is well-versed in local conditions and operations in related fields to ensure proper support for resident companies.
Preference will be given to local experts with extensive knowledge and experience who have performed R&D execution and management, as well as inter-company research cooperation tasks for many years at universities, research institutes, or companies in the NRW federal state.
The recruitment of resident companies targets 10 mid-sized companies and prospective mid-sized companies with strong intentions to expand globally, and the application period has been extended until the 20th of this month in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Resident companies at the center will receive various support services including provision of local technical information, matching with technology cooperation partners, collaboration with local companies, as well as assistance for settlement and establishment.
