Edent to Resume Mask Production... KDA Requests "Supply All Dental Masks to Association"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Idente, a dental material manufacturing and distribution company that recently declared a production halt in protest against the government's expansion of public mask supply measures, has decided to resume production.
The Korean Dental Association announced on the 8th that Idente has conveyed its intention to resume mask production, and requested the government to allow the association to receive the entire public supply of dental masks produced by Idente.
The association stated, "We have made many mediation efforts between the government and the company to resolve the production halt issue of Idente," and "We welcome Idente's decision to resume production."
Furthermore, the association insisted, "As Idente wishes, all dental masks produced should be supplied to dental clinics through the association."
Previously, Idente posted a statement on its website declaring the production halt. In the statement, Idente claimed that the Public Procurement Service notified them that only about 50% of the production cost would be recognized and demanded a production contract amounting to ten times the daily production volume.
Subsequently, the Public Procurement Service acknowledged that the request for ten times the daily production volume during the contract process with Idente was an error in the contract quantity notation.
