Iran COVID-19 Cases Reach 4,747 with 124 Deaths; Daily Cases Surge by 1,234
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] On the 6th (local time), the Iranian Ministry of Health announced that the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) increased by 1,234 at noon, bringing the total to 40,747.
On the same day, the number of deaths increased by 17 from the previous day, reaching 124. Iran ranks third in COVID-19 deaths after China and Italy. Since the 1st of this month, double-digit daily deaths have been recorded for six consecutive days.
Since the first confirmed cases and deaths were reported on the 19th of last month, this day marks the highest daily increase. It is also the first time that confirmed cases have increased by more than 1,000 in a single day.
