Hwasun-gun 'Non-Tajakmul Cultivation Support Project' Application
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 5th that it is accepting applications for the ‘Paddy Field Non-Rice Crop Cultivation Support Project’ until June 30, aimed at fundamentally and proactively addressing the structural oversupply of rice and increasing the self-sufficiency rate of non-rice crops.
The Paddy Field Non-Rice Crop Cultivation Support Project provides a certain subsidy to farmers who cultivate crops other than rice in paddy fields.
Additionally, this project clearly demonstrates the recent changes in agricultural policy, such as the reform of the public interest direct payment system (applying a uniform unit price per item), shifting from a rice-centered agricultural policy paradigm to one that enhances fairness among crops.
The county is conducting the support project this year with a tentative target of 202 hectares for non-rice crop cultivation in paddy fields.
Eligible applicants are farmers who participated in the support project and received subsidies in 2018 or last year, or those confirmed to have cultivated rice at least once between 2017 and last year.
To apply, submit the project application form to the administrative welfare center of the town or township where the farmland is located.
The support unit price varies by crop: 4.3 million KRW per hectare for forage crops, 2.7 million KRW for general and green manure crops, 2.55 million KRW for legumes, and 2.1 million KRW for fallow land, averaging about 2.9 million KRW.
Crops requiring supply and demand management such as radish, cabbage, chili pepper, green onion, garlic, onion, potato, and sweet potato are excluded from the support items.
