Pro Volleyball Stops Due to 'COVID-19'... V-League Suspended from the 3rd
Korean Volleyball Federation Decides to Temporarily Suspend V-League
Unanimous Suspension Request from 13 Teams
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The men's and women's professional volleyball leagues will be suspended from the 3rd due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Korea Volleyball Federation held a COVID-19 countermeasure meeting on the 2nd and decided to temporarily suspend the Dodram 2019-2020 V-League regular season. Earlier that morning, the general managers of the 13 men's and women's volleyball teams who participated in the working committee unanimously requested the suspension of the league.
After confirming the intentions of each team's director by phone, the Volleyball Federation made the final decision to temporarily suspend the league. The men's match between Seoul (Woori Card - OK Savings Bank) and the women's match between Daejeon (KGC Ginseng Corporation - Heungkuk Life) scheduled for the 3rd will be suspended.
As COVID-19 cases surged, the men's and women's professional volleyball leagues began holding matches without spectators starting from the 25th of last month. Despite this, concerns about the safety of the players did not subside, and as COVID-19 spread more rapidly, it became difficult to continue the league.
The Volleyball Federation will closely monitor the situation until the COVID-19 situation improves and discuss follow-up measures accordingly.
