Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok: "We Will Cut the Chain of Community Infection"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, announced on the 2nd in an emergency statement regarding the fourth additional COVID-19 confirmed case in Jeonnam, saying, “We will make every effort to block the chain of community infection.”
Governor Kim stated, “The fourth confirmed case in Gwangyang is a 36-year-old woman who is the daughter-in-law of the 19th and 20th confirmed cases in Ulsan Metropolitan City,” and added, “The confirmed case’s parents-in-law, who reside in Dong-gu, Ulsan, visited their son’s house in Gwangyang from the 20th to the 21st of last month, and showed symptoms such as coughing and chills from the 26th.”
He continued, “On the 1st, the parents-in-law tested positive, and the son’s family of four was classified as contacts,” and said, “After immediate specimen collection and testing by the Jeonnam Health and Environment Research Institute, only the daughter-in-law tested positive and was promptly admitted to a negative pressure room at Suncheon Medical Center.”
It was confirmed that the confirmed case had stayed at home continuously since the 24th of last month, and her husband since the 27th. The provincial rapid response team and the epidemiological investigation team of Gwangyang City have begun an in-depth epidemiological investigation.
Governor Kim emphasized, “As soon as additional epidemiological investigation results come out, we will promptly inform the residents of detailed movement routes,” and added, “We will also swiftly isolate any newly identified contacts to do our best to block the chain of community infection.”
Governor Kim promised to establish a full-scale response system with cities and counties by implementing a one-to-one executive official assignment system to social welfare facilities at risk of mass infection, conducting daily inspections.

Meanwhile, Jeonnam Province has provided 20,000 masks each to Suncheon City and Yeosu City, where recent confirmed cases occurred, totaling 40,000 masks, and decided to supply an appropriate amount to Gwangyang City, where the confirmed case was reported today, considering the on-site situation.
