View original image[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Joo-hee] Lawyer Kwon Kyung-ae of the Lawyers for a Democratic Society (Minbyun), affiliated with the law firm Haemir, criticized Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon’s criminal complaint accusing Shincheonji Chairman Lee Man-hee and others of murder, saying, "They see this disaster as a good opportunity to catch Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol."
On the 2nd, Lawyer Kwon wrote on her Facebook, "As soon as Mayor Park filed a murder complaint against Lee Man-hee with the prosecution, those who had been actively defending Cho Kuk suddenly all started criticizing Yoon Seok-yeol," expressing this view.
Lawyer Kwon added, "I thought there might be some political motive hidden behind Mayor Park’s complaint, but I still hoped not. Do they really see this disaster as an opportunity to justify their claims against Prosecutor General Yoon and catch him? These crazy people, unless their heads are broken, really..." she criticized.
Earlier, Lawyer Kwon shared an article about Seoul City filing a murder complaint against the Shincheonji leadership, posting, "In the infectious disease disaster situation, politicians trying to stand out are engaging in all sorts of terrifying showmanship."
She pointed out, "The Infectious Disease Prevention and Management Act stipulates relatively mild penalties, such as a fine of 3 million won for violating administrative measures like restrictions on public gatherings, and imprisonment of up to one year or administrative fines of up to 20 million won for refusing to provide information, so this measure has gone far beyond what can be understood as unavoidable."
She added, "This kind of excessive politics is close to a modern-day witch hunt violence looking for scapegoats to bear responsibility for this situation."
