Hampyeong-gun Selected as Best Institution for Increasing Local Tax Collection Rate
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Acting Governor Na Yunsu) achieved the great feat of being selected as the best institution in the ‘2019 Local Tax Collection Rate Improvement’ evaluation conducted by Jeollanam-do.
According to Hampyeong-gun on the 1st, Jeollanam-do recently conducted an evaluation of local tax collection work overall for 22 cities and counties in the province, including ‘local tax collection rate,’ ‘minimum rate of carryover arrears compared to assessment,’ and ‘collection scale.’
Last year, the county recorded a local tax collection rate of 97.3%, exceeding the initially targeted 97% collection rate, and received the best institution award and a prize of 50 million won.
The county explained that the special collection period to increase the local tax collection rate, which operated for about two months from November last year, and the joint arrears collection task force of towns and townships were effective in improving the local tax collection rate.
It was also evaluated that minimizing carryover arrears by confiscating license plates of delinquent vehicles and regularly monitoring the nationwide real estate and financial assets of delinquent taxpayers to secure claims greatly contributed to the improvement of the collection rate.
